Waterline Tip #1

Water quality is a big issue in dentistry. The Microbiology Lab conducts waterline treatment product testing and will be sharing helpful tips that can slow microbial accumulation.

Waterline Tip 1:

Empty water reservoir (bottle) at the end of each day and clean periodically. Stagnant water is a breeding ground for bacteria. Numerous studies from the Microbiology Lab have found that emptying your dental unit water bottle at the end of each work day can make a big difference with the bacterial contamination of your dental unit water. In addition, periodically clean your water bottle with hydrogen peroxide and rinse with clean water. This can help inhibit mold formation in your bottles that I see from time to time.
