I like to use self-etching bonding agents, but am worried about the bond to uncut enamel. Do you have any advice regarding bonding to enamel with self-etching products?

You are right to wonder about the bond of self-etching adhesives and uncut enamel. Although most self-etching products do bond to uncut enamel, the bond is not as strong as with total-etch products. Etching uncut enamel with phosphoric acid before using a self-etching adhesive is a safe alternative. One new product called Ace All-Bond SE (Bisco Dental Products) comes with Uni-Etch in the packaging for bonding to uncut enamel. It was awarded the highest rating by THE DENTAL ADVISOR Clinical Consultants.
