Several times, I have removed a composite restoration because there appeared to be recurrent decay beneath the pulpal floor, only to find out that there was a just a flowable composite layer beneath the restorative composite. Are there any flowable composites that do not cause this problem?

Accolade SRO (Danville Materials) is a flowable composite that is “Super RadiOpaque” (SRO). It has the radiopacity of titanium, which is more radiopaque than most brands of flowable composites. This composite would show up on radiographs, allowing you to avoid the question of recurrent decay beneath existing composite restorations. It is a microhybrid that comes in three shades and is recommended as a first layer of any restoration, as a sealant, or in low functional and Class V situations.
