My assistants have trouble mixing alginate consistently without bubbles, and they often make the alginate mix either too thick or too thin. This results in much waste of material and remakes of impressions. Any suggestions?

Clinical Consultants of THE DENTAL ADVISOR recently evaluated an alginate auto-mixer called TurboMAX (DENTSPLY Raintree Essix) and reported very good results. After stirring a measured amount of powder and water in the mixing cup, the operator places the mix into the machine and selects one of several mixing times. Consultants found the mixed material to be smooth, creamy, homogenous, and easy to place in the impression trays, cutting down on wasted material and resulting in higher quality impressions.
