Is there any difference between luting a porcelain veneer with a light-cured or a dual-cured resin cement?

There are advantages and disadvantages to both light-cured and dual-cured resin cements. First of all, you should never lute with a light-cured resin cement if the veneer is more than 1-mm thick. A research study conducted with a halogen curing light showed that less than 2% of light can penetrate through 1-mm thick porcelain. Light-cured resin has been shown in some studies to be more color stable and have a higher bond to tooth structure and porcelain than dual-cured resin. However, if it is not able to cure completely, those properties are insignificant. Therefore, my advice would be to use light-cured resin cement when luting thin veneers, with multiple curing in different areas of the veneer, and to use dual-cured resin cement if luting veneers thicker than 1 mm.
