Is postoperative sensitivity associated with self-etch bonding agents?

All bonding agents can result in postoperative sensitivity with some patients. In the self-etch technique, the acidic primer or primer-adhesive displaces the smear layer and then reprecipitates it, resulting in an effective seal of the dentinal tubules. There is no rinsing required with self-etch bonding agents.
