I have difficulty achieving adequate proximal contacts when restoring posterior teeth with composite. Any suggestions?

Sectional matrix systems provide a tighter, more anatomic proximal surface than traditional matrix systems. These systems utilize pre-contoured metal matrix bands and bitine rings that are placed in the proximal surface of the tooth to be restored. The tines exert pressure on both the mesial and distal side of the proximal surface of the tooth, forcing separation from the adjacent tooth. This action creates a tighter proximal contact once the restoration is completed and the ring is removed. The Palodent Sectional Matrix System (DENTSPLY Caulk) is one such system. It comes with two shapes of rings and three sizes and shapes of matrix bands.
