Diapaste is a calcium hydroxide and barium sulfate root canal treatment material. It is intended for use in infected root canals, for pulp capping and as an intracanal medicament. Diapaste does not separate or solidify and is supplied pre-mixed in syringes. Indications include treatment of infected root canal, apexification, temporary root canal filling, vital pulpotomy, temporary pulp capping, root canal filling for primary teeth and disinfection after pulp extirpation treatment. The paste is water soluble and radiopaque. The complete kit includes a 2g syringe of Diapaste with 20 disposable tips. Diapaste was used by 16 consultants in 198 clinical procedures. This product received a 91% clinical rating.
Diapaste is a useful product for many endodontic indications, and consultants liked having a choice without iodoform. The product is easy and convenient to dispense from the syringe delivery, and the flexible disposable tips are narrow enough to reach well into the canal, providing good access. The thin straight tips can be easily bent according to preference. The low viscosity paste maintains a homogeneous consistency in the syringe, and it remains soft for easy removal when necessary.Fifty-six percent would switch to Diapaste and 81% would recommend it to a colleague.
