Immediate Need for Healthcare Facilities to Review Procedures for Cleaning, Disinfecting, and Sterilizing Reusable Medical Devices

In September the CDC issued a Health Advisory alerting Healthcare facilities to properly maintain, clean, and disinfect or sterilize reusable medical devices.   It is recommended that offices carefully examine and update their reprocessing procedures for medical devices and provide training to all personnel. This assessment should ensure that reprocessing is done correctly, including allowing enough time for reprocessing personnel to follow all steps recommended by the device manufacturer.  Here at THE DENTAL ADVISOR, we recommend a yearly staff meeting to discuss consistency in infection control practices. Feel free to use our “Top 10 Areas To Discuss With Your Team” to help lead your conversation.
