Description
FISSUROTOMY Diagnostic & Finishing Bur Kit is highly recommended for ultraconservative enameloplasty and opening fissures. The kit contains a Narrow Taper Fissure (NTF) bur with a diameter of 0.7 mm and a Shallow Taper Fissure
(STF) with a diameter of 0.6 mm. In contrast, the original FISSUROTOMY bur has a
diameter of 1.1 mm. The tip diameter of the burs is for primary teeth, permanent
premolars, and enameloplasty. The kit includes three original FISSUROTOMY burs,
three NTF burs, three STF burs, one #7901 bur, and one #7406 bur in an
autoclavable bur block. The carbide burs are designed to provide a very
conservative approach for opening occlusal pits and fissures with suspected
caries. Twenty consultants evaluated FISSUROTOMY Diagnostic & Finishing Bur
Kit in 510 clinical cases. This product received a 94% clinical rating.

Product Features
The
Fissurotomy burs were well received for their cutting efficiency,
precision of tooth preparation and the ability to conservatively open pits and
fissures. The burs are recommended for use without anesthesia, unless the
preparation is expected to reach the DEJ. Of 320 cases that were attempted
without anesthesia, 53 (16%) required anesthesia for completion of the procedure
because caries had penetrated the dentin. The
Fissurotomy burs allow precise
exploration of suspicious grooves, and in over 80% of the cases, caries were
detected. A few of the consultants who utilize air abrasion commented that the
burs are much cleaner and more conservative than air abrasion. The variety of
bur sizes and shapes available is sufficient for all clinical situations.
Seventy-five percent of consultants indicated that they would purchase and
recommend
Fissurotomy Diagnostic & Finishing Bur Kit.
