Description

CORE-FLO DC is a dual-cured, flowable core material that is dispensed with an auto-mix tip on a dual-barrel syringe. CORE-FLO DC is indicated for core build-up, post cementation, and as a dentin replacement material. It contains fluoride, is radiopaque and available in two esthetic shades, Natural/A1 and Opaque White, and a contrasting Blue shade. The manufacturer reports low shrinkage, high compressive and flexural strengths, low water sorption as well as high bond strength to dentin, enamel and fiber posts. Contents of the CORE-FLO DC Intro Kit include two 8g syringes of core material (one each of Natural/A1 and Opaque White, or two Blue), a dispensing gun, UNI-ETCH w/BAC, ONE-STEP bonding agent and accessories. CORE-FLO DC was evaluated by 27 consultants in 438 uses. It received a 93% rating.

Product Features

The dispensing gun that holds the dual-barrel syringe provides easy extrusion of CORE-FLO DC directly into the prepared tooth. The tips provide a complete mix, and narrow intraoral tips or root canal tips allow placement into small spaces. The core material colors were useful in a variety of clinical situations. CORE-FLO DC has enough body to resist slumping and is a higher viscosity than some other core materials. The matter of viscosity is a personal preference among dentists, with some preferring a more flowable material for use with pins and posts. Forty-four percent of consultants reported that CORE-FLO DC was better than their current core material and 37% reported that it was equivalent. Sixty-seven percent would switch to CORE-FLO DC and 93% would recommend it.

Clinical Tips

  • Use a bonding agent on instrument tips to reduce adhesion to instruments and improve adaptation to tooth structure.

  • Use the Natural/A1 shade under translucent all-ceramic restorations.

  • Overfill and allow it to cure completely before prepping.
