Types of Tests

 

THE DENTAL ADVISOR Biomaterials Research Center provides a number of physical and mechanical tests, including:

 

• Compressive strength and modulus

• Flexural strength and modulus

• Diametral tensile strength

• Bond tests – inverted cone tensile test, Ultradent shear test, micro-tensile test

• Elastic recovery of elastomers

• Flexibility (strain in compression) of elastomers

• Tear energy of elastomers

• Flowability of elastomers (Shark Fin test)

• Dimensional changes of elastomers

• Microleakage

• Gloss of polished surfaces

• Cutting properties of diamond and carbide burs

• Radiopacity

• ANSI/ADA and ISO tests

THE DENTAL ADVISOR Biomaterials Research Center also provides microbiological testing of infection control products.
